U.S. companies that had never previously considered employing a remote workforce found themselves taking swift action the first few weeks of March 2020: Business continuity depended on setting up virtual workplaces and rapidly deploying a remote workforce. In the long weeks that followed, employees settled into their remote workspaces and organizations realized how much could be accomplished in a virtual environment. Now, the question is being asked: How do you put the remote work genie back in the bottle? Do you even want to?
As organizations consider longer-term shifts to remote work, they must take new approaches to recruiting, developing, and retaining talent.
